Sansui integrated amplifier AU-x911DG (Top Model) 100 watts per channel into 8 ohm (stereo) 120 watts per channel into 4 ohm (stereo) speaker. Hi folks I have a Sansui AU X911 DG that I picked up a few years ago. The sound is superb but I could never get the DAC to work. I have heard this 1 bit MASH D/A on other working units and liked the sound. I am not prepared to begin any repairs until I retire which won't be for a few years. It may just be a question of the motor engaging the circuit and needing a new belt. It does have a remote. My question is about the DAC. The IC is a Panasonic MN6623DM or MN6471DM. These are 16 bit D/A converters. I can find out almost nothing about these with Google. Google play services 4.4.52 apk. I have found no specs and no availability except for a few units listed in Italy and the seller won't ship out of the country. So, would anyone know about possible replacements? All I can find that might help someone more knowledgeable is this: Thanks for any input. Well.you posted in the right place. Normally we're like the U.S. We never leave a man behind. I think you may have us stumped on this one. It seems to be very rare, I bet the production count is only a few thousand (?) I researched the AU-X911, and it is the TOTL export alpha. The position of each card image is specific, so you can stack the cards on top of each other to create the look you want. Barbie idesign. The cards are clear plastic with the model or fashion item pictured on the card. It is similar to the AU-X901, but the internals are beautified (love the transformer cover!). And it has 4 digital inputs, and a MASH DAC built-in.:scratch2: I'm not sure what the motor and belt is for? Remote control volume, and input selection? I think this may be the source of your problem.describe what other functions you can access. The motor in the back along with the belt provides gear movement so that input selector can work. Actually motor is part of the input selector. They wanted to do all input changes in the back where the signal enters the amp. Less noise etc. Very nice amp. The DAC is a mash one bit design.Featuring the three basic sample rates of that era, 32khz 44,1 and 48 khz. It's not obsolete. It just won't lock in the newer sample rates. Sounds funny that it doesn't work. It might be the input selector known problem with the slipping or cut belt, apart from the cleaning that it might require. @mjs1 whatever you do, DONT disassemble the two large gears that are rotated from the motor through the belt. If you can't do it your self find a technician with experience in this particular design. It is only too easy to mess the timing up of the gears and nevere work again. A belt change and a cleaning with a oil free spray should be enough, to make it work again. Thanks BigElCat and JOMARK911! This is my favorite integrated Sansui although the 919 and 20000 are high up there. Free computer graphics programs. I would love to hear an X1. I can't say that these choices are based on sound quality and all of the AUs have their charm. In blind testing, for example, I am not sure that I can distinguish between the 919 and the D11II, or the X911 and the X901. I am not about to take the 911 apart until I retire and have the time to get into repairs. When I first got the 911 the selector buttons all seemed to work, i.e. There was a whirr and the lights lit up on tuner, CD etc. Now I just leave it on tuner. I assume that the belt is slipping and I can't get all the functions. I could not get the DAC to work from the beginning. I bought two other X911s and had a brief chance to listen to the DAC with headphones, but both were trashed in the shipping process and were sent back. I can't vouch for the DAC quality but this amplifier sounds so good that that I enjoyed my brief use of the DAC. Also, I think that given monetary constraints, this amp is the closest that I can come to the sound of the later 'Japanese not for export Sansuis'. I don't want to waste everybody's time now asking for advice on repairs since I am not prepared to work on it myself and I don't have anyone close to me in Upstate New York who would even want to work on it. It looks fairly complex, although I will try to address the belt issue sometime. My question was more about replacement parts. I don't know whether the IC DAC chip is bad or goes bad but I thought I might prepare for the future and get any IC parts available before they disappear. I don't think that I can retire for 5 more years.
